Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic invites journalists and the public to the International Climate Change Conference. The conference will be held on 31st October 2008 starting at 8:30 a.m. in the congress hall SIC of The Czech University of Life Sciences.

By the end of the conference you are invited to the press conference which will be held at 12:00-12:30 p.m. in the area of the Czech University of Life Sciences as well.

The Conference is organized together by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, the Embassy of Sweden and the Embassy of Denmark in cooperation with the Embassy of the United Kingdom. “Climate change is the main priority of all the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (France, the Czech Republic, Sweden). The UN climate summit will be held in Copenhagen in Denmark in December 2009 where new global climate agreement should be finalized to replace the Kyoto Protocol after 2012,“ stressed Martin Bursík, the Czech Minister of Environment.

Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mirek Topolánek and European Commissioner responsible for environment Stavros Dimas will open the conference. Climate Change Conference will be divided to two sessions. In the first one the presenters will deal with global climate change. During this session Connie Hedegaard, Minister of Climate and Energy of Denmark will have her presentation. Martin Bursík, the Minister of Environment of Czech Republic and his colleague from Sweden Andreas Carlgren will have their presentations in the second session and they will speak about national climate policies.

The conference will be held in Czech and English language, simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
