Pennsylvania man Allen Reeves took the 'hydrogen challenge' to convert his car into what he calls 'the other hybrid' and demonstrates a way to not only save money on rising gasoline prices, but how to help the ecology as well.

Allen Reeves was frustrated with the rising cost of gasoline prices, and determined to try to do something about it. "I wish I could say that I was motivated purely by ecological concerns", says Reeves, "but the truth of it is that I was motivated purely by money. I was simply just sick and tired of paying for gas that seemed to cost more, every time I went to the gas station."

Reeves researched the internet for different ways to improve gas mileage, and came across several websites that dealt with using hydrogen as a supplemental fuel source. "I quickly became excited about the possibilities, especially as I read more and more, and found that hydrogen was a very viable solution. It is extremely cheap and easy to produce."

When asked why he calls his car 'the other hybrid', Reeves responds, "I like to call it 'the other hybrid', because most people are only aware of hybrids that use electricity as a supplemental power source." Reeves claims that hydrogen hybrid cars outperformed electrical hybrid cars in virtually any category. "Hydrogen hybrids burn cooler and cleaner, generate more power, and have almost no emissions. They are, hands down, far better than their electric counterparts."

Reeves claims that a car converted to a hydrogen hybrid can save as much as 60% on gasoline, and is perfectly safe. "Anyone can build and install the hydrogen generator on their car.", he says, "You don't have to be a professional mechanic. It's very easy to do, and relatively cheap - it costs most people less than $200 to make the conversion. Safety isn't an issue, because the hydrogen is produced 'on demand'...no need to store it, or compress it."
